The Milwaukee Portal is located on Moody Park in the Amani Community. It is located in the 53206 zip code, which has the highest rate of African American male incarceration in America. The Portal is run by curator Lewis Lee, a musician and community organizer. It is supported by local nonprofits including the COA Youth & Family Center, PeppNation, and the Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative. It is also supported with funding from the MacArthur Foundation, the Yale Justice Collaboratory, the Yale Institute for the Study of Inequality, and the Rutgers School of Criminal Justice.
