Fellowship

Shared_Studios seeks a limited number of Fellows to work in the following areas:

  1. Software Development
  2. Industrial Design & Architecture
  3. Media, Public Relations & Marketing
  4. Logistics & Operations
  5. Sales & Business Development

Fellowships are more subject-area focused for those further along in their particular careers. They often involve sustained work on special projects. If you don’t see a specific area that fits your interests or skills but you’d still like to work with us, please inquire. There may be opportunities available.

Fellows can be based anywhere.

 

Responsibilities will depend on area of interest and may include:

  • Identifying, researching, and supporting existing and potential Portal locations and partners.

  • Participating in high-level meetings to develop growth strategies and interact with our partners.

  • Developing our social media presence, company-wide marketing strategies, and market research.

  • Tracking and documenting client leads and relationships.

  • Providing logistical and operational support for the transport and installation of Portals in the U.S. and abroad.

  • Possible travel to Portal openings around the United States.

  • Additional responsibilities as necessary and appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a strong attention to detail and results, and experience communicating with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Strong research, writing, problem-solving, and computer skills.

  • Ability to adapt quickly, work in a fast-paced environment, and balance multiple projects.

  • For business development positions, fundraising, marketing, sales, or finance experience is preferred.

  • For technology-oriented positions, experience in programming (Python, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Ruby), hardware development (interactive design, Arduino, PixelConduit, lighting design, sound design), or general design (architecture, prototype renderings, construction oversight) is preferred.

  • Must have a personal computer and be willing to use it for the work assigned.

  • Must be enrolled in or a recent graduate of an undergraduate or advanced degree program.

 

Hours and Compensation

Both full-time (35-40 hours/week) and part-time (15-20 hours/week) positions are available. The position is designed to provide important opportunities for career development. Fellows selected on the basis of advanced technical knowledge for technology-oriented positions will be compensated at a rate to be negotiated with the Shared_Studios team.
