Open Call: Global Portals Residency

Length of Residency: 1 month, with ability to extend
Participants: Artists, musicians, performers, scholars, and researchers
Application Fee: None
Provided: Shared-Studios will provide regular, scheduled time in the Portal space, Portal equipment, Internet, and connections through the global network. Portal residents can use the portal space for 4-hours per week as their globally connected studio.
Budget: Residents are responsible for materials, transportation and accommodation. Shared_Studios and partner organizations can help the resident apply for funding by offering invitation letters and related materials. We suggest applicants experience the Portal in operation, connected to another location, before applying.
Application: Proposals should articulate a site-specific project designed for the Portal space. This project can rely on a live connection to another site, or can just be at a single location.
Display: Residents can showcase their residency work at their local Portal and across the global Portals network. Presentations can include exhibitions, talks, critique groups, and so on. Shared_Studios will also feature works, publications, or research online.
- Researchers in field of sociology and anthropology are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Interdisciplinary projects and collaborations are encouraged.
- Joint applications encouraged: If you know any artist, researcher, scholar or from other disciplines that you would like to collaborate with in our portal partners locations, you could apply together as a team.
- If your Project requires to connect you to any artists (working on specific medium), scholars, scientists, writers or any other specific experts to collaborate that requires us to coordinate with them please mention that in your application. Shared studios and its partners do their best to find a collaborator for you abroad.
