Grand Park is located in downtown Los Angeles between The Music Center and City Hall. The park is a dynamic, inclusive environment for community events, cultural experiences, festivals, holiday celebrations and many other activities that engage and attract visitors from all communities in Los Angeles County. Park visitors enjoy original programming, Music Center programming, outdoor activities, interactive events, entertainment and many other activities that benefit from the park’s multi-use lawns, stages and spaces. The Grand Park Portal brings an immersive space – a gold shipping container with screens and speakers – to connect Angelenos to faces and places that are curious about L.A. life. Our Portal in Mexico City has moved around town, garnered major national press, and hosted celebrities including Telenovela stars. We are now in Platoon Mexico, a global creative collective based in Berlin, Mexico City and Seoul with more than 7,500 members. The Mexico Portal is run in partnership with Time Out Mexico, the largest arts, culture and entertainment guide in Mexico. Since 2015, the Portal has moved to numerous sites including Plaza Villa Madrid, one of the most iconic neighborhoods in Mexico City, and Arte Alameda, a space dedicated to the exhibition, documentation, production, and research of artistic practices that relate to technology.
Founded in 2011, the annual DC Palestinian Film and Arts Festival (DCPFAF) is a 501c3 nonprofit, volunteer-run enterprise that showcases the work of Palestinian filmmakers and artists around the world to audiences in the Washington DC metro area.
Kabul University is located in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. It was founded in 1931 during the government of Mohammed Nadir Shah and then Prime Minister Mohammad Hashim Khan. Kabul University is attended by approximately 25,000 students, of which around 40% are women. The main building was renovated about 500 metres from the old one, which has almost the same design.The mission of Kabul University is to mature and prosper as an internationally recognised institution of learning and research, a community of stakeholders committed to shared governance, and a centre of innovative thought and practice.
Our Portal in Rwanda is located at Impact Hub in downtown Kigali and run by Kurema, Kureba, Kwiga (“To Create, To See, To Learn”), a public arts social enterprise using street-arts and art-actions to involve civil society in positive social change.
In particular, the organization creates large-scale public artworks, many of which seek to reduce the stigma against HIV-positive individuals. Impact Hub Kigali, which also hosts the Portal, is a co-working space nurturing grassroots ventures aiming to have a sustainable impact on their communities.

For two weeks in late February and early March 2015, a Portal connected the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven, Connecticut, to the Sazmanab Center for Contemporary Art in Tehran, Iran. The mission of the Yale University Art Gallery is to encourage appreciation and understanding of art and its role in society through direct engagement with original works of art. The Gallery stimulates active learning about art and the creative process through research, teaching, and dialogue among communities of Yale students, faculty, artists, scholars, alumni, and the wider public. The Gallery organizes exhibitions and educational programs to offer enjoyment and encourage inquiry, while building and maintaining its collections in trust for future generations.
