Established in 1960, The Rye Arts Center is the largest multi-arts center in the region. It is a community-based not-for-profit dedicated to inspiring interest and maximum participation in the arts in and around Westchester. They offer classes and lessons, performances, exhibitions, and a range of outreach programs.
Light City Baltimore features the BGE Light Art Walk with more than 50 attractions including illuminated visual artworks such as large-scale installations, projections, interactive technologies, performances and more. Our Portal at the Association of College & Research Libraries connected conference attendees to librarians around the world! The Association of College & Research Libraries is the higher education association for librarians. Representing more than 11,000 academic and research librarians and interested individuals, ACRL develops programs, products and services to help academic and research librarians learn, innovate and lead within the academic community. Founded in 1940, ACRL is committed to advancing learning and transforming scholarship. ACRL is the largest division of the American Library Association (ALA). ACRL currently has a membership of more than 11,000 members, accounting for nearly 20% of the total ALA membership.
Over the coming months, we will launch a new initiative to expand dialogues within the United States around the world. We will create Portal Buses to travel across the United States, connecting thousands of Americans to one another, from a Native American reservation to a Miami nightclub to a playground in Oklahoma City. We will also connect all of these sites to our global network, which includes refugee and IDP communities abroad.
Our Portal is located at Instituto del Progreso Latino. Our Portal in Brooklyn is located in the Navy Yard at the New Lab. The New Lab is an interdisciplinary space designed to support entrepreneurs working in emerging technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and connected devices.
St. Edward’s is a dynamic Catholic, liberal arts university in Austin. We brought a Portal Container to their campus for the Fall 2016 semester. They put it to dynamic use, connecting it to our global network for classes, performances, and more.
For one week in October 2016, Chicago Ideas and Comcast brought a Portal to Daley Plaza for Chicago Ideas Week 2016, one of the world's largest gatherings for the exploration of ideas in policy, entertainment, sports, and entrepreneurship.
Working with partners across Vanderbilt University, including their art museum and undergraduate dean, we set up a Portal at the center of campus for one month in 2015. Students across Vanderbilt engaged students in Mexico City through Portals for conversations, artist collaborations, language classes and more.
