The Justice Collaboratory at Yale Law School
The Yale Justice Collaboratory is making our criminal justice dialogues across the U.S. and Mexico possible.
The Justice Collaboratory brings together scholars and researchers of diverse theoretical and methodological orientations at Yale University and elsewhere to work on issues related to institutional reform and policy innovation and advancement. It infuses theory, empirical research, and targeted clinical trials in order to achieve its goal of making the components of criminal justice operation simultaneously more effective, just, and democratic.
Collaboratory scholars seek to develop theory and empirical research relevant to procedural justice, police legitimacy, social network analysis, restorative justice, democratic participation, and the philosophical determinants of punishment. We work to expand the science underlying these strategies so that new and more effective approaches might be developed. Collaboratory members will also field test strategies and approaches relevant to the theoretical innovations that it develops.
Three members of the Collaboratory, Tracey Meares, Tom Tyler, and Megan Quattlebaum, are involved in a related venture, the National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice. The National Initiative is designed to implement and test certain strategies to promote trust and confidence in the criminal justice system, focusing on procedural justice, implicit bias, and reconciliation. This team includes experts from John Jay College, the Center for Policing Equity at UCLA, and the Urban Institute.
For more information about the Justice Collaboratory, please email Megan Quattlebaum.

The Obama Foundation
he Obama Foundation was established in January 2014 to carry on the great, unfinished project of renewal and global progress. Officially established as an operating, 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, the Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors chaired by civic leader Martin Nesbitt.
When it’s complete, the Center will include a library holding the Presidential archives, a museum focusing on the Obama Presidency and issues of our time, and space for ongoing programs and initiatives that advance our mission.
In the U.S., prisoner re-entry is hard, and Family ReEntry is working to make it easier. We're working with Family ReEntry and the warden of the Connecticut prison system to set up a Portal in a prison in 2018 to help aid this process.
Family ReEntry’s (FRE) mission is to develop, implement, and share sustainable, cost-effective solutions for the unprecedented numbers of people involved in the criminal justice system, which empower individuals, strengthen families, and build communities. Family ReEntry began in 1984, as a reentry support group for men at the Isaiah House in Bridgeport and has since grown to include intervention, reentry, and family and children programs.
Over the past thirty-two years, effective community-based programs developed by Family ReEntry, have significantly reduced the likelihood that clients will re-offend, be re-arrested, or be re-incarcerated. Our programs comprise three integrated sectors: Prevention, Intervention, and Reentry, providing a spectrum of services designed to help break the cycle of incarceration. FRE addresses the specific needs of each client and their families through individualized case management and support services. It works to create a positive social network for each client, towards helping to make their transition from prison back into the community a successful one and helping them towards a road of self-sufficiency, while strengthening their families and the community. FRE’s programs include: Domestic Violence Treatment and Education, Community Reentry, Mentoring Programs and Intensive Outpatient Programs.
Family ReEntry was incorporated in 1984 as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization in the State of Connecticut. It has an active and engaged Board of committed trustees with diverse backgrounds and relevant expertise.
Family ReEntry’s programs operate in strategic locations that encompass eight municipal regions and judicial geographic areas, two parole districts and five prisons. Approximately, sixty-percent of those we serve are from greater Bridgeport – Connecticut’s largest city. Offices are located in Bridgeport, Norwalk and New Haven. Programs are also located in Waterbury, and Norwich.

Yale Institution for Social and Policy Studies
The Institution for Social and Policy Studies (ISPS) at Yale University advances interdisciplinary research in the social sciences that aims to shape public policy and inform democratic deliberation. Where university centers tend to be inward looking, our community of students and scholars makes a point of not only contributing to academic discourse but also engaging directly with policymakers and participating in public debates. Through this work, we strive to both identify and elaborate particular areas of concern and, more broadly, to encourage reasoned policy debate and formulation at the state and national level. By supporting policy education, fellowship programs and extracurricular activities, we also develop future leaders who will themselves inform – and perhaps even join – the policymaking community in years to come, bringing with them the commitments to inquiry and scholarship that lie at the heart of ISPS.
The Times Square Alliance, founded in 1992, works to improve and promote Times Square - cultivating the creativity, energy and edge that have made the area an icon of entertainment, culture and urban life for over a century.
