Shared_Studios exists because though diversity is good for you, none of us get enough of it.

We use Portals to help communities around the world embrace diversity and acknowledge the commonalities between us. Every choice we make is in service of that mission. Whether we are building a new prototype or choosing our next Portal location, we’re do it to help people encounter perspectives from around the globe.

HELP US BRING TOGETHER PEOPLE
THAT WOULD OTHERWISE NEVER MEET

Portals form a global network of physical locations, each hosted by a Curator who connects their Portal to their community and their community to the world.

The world is getting smaller, but not kinder. Instead of common understanding, the internet encourages tribalism and distrust.

The truth is that many of the technologies that promised to bring us together have made us more isolated than ever before. Even when we do interact with people outside of our bubbles, our social infrastructure prohibits genuine exchange.

We’re worse off for it. Listening to diverse voices is an experience that makes life more profound.

That richness is denied to all of us so long as the divides between our communities continue to widen.

WE’RE BUILDING A SOCIAL
NETWORK YOU CAN TOUCH

Portals form a global network of physical locations,
each hosted by a Curator who connects their Portal to their
community and their community to the world.

Developing a global public infrastructure and public resource on every continent means speaking the languages of numerous communities – literally and metaphorically.  It means:

  • Building systems to support an ever-growing communications infrastructure.

  • Considering the user-experience of every user – not just consumers in Silicon Valley.
